I too was accused of seeing gay in everything, but Lord knows I see nothing slashy between Supernatural boys, one of the biggest slash fandoms EVER! I have nothing against incest. I can see the brothers in Heroes getting it on, but never Dean and Sam. Never. I wonder what's wrong with me sometimes because I'm a hardcore Jensen/Jared (J2) fan.

CM novels didn't blow me away or anything, but I appreciate all the little bonding moments between the characters, something sorely missed in the last two seasons of CM. *glare at the writers* I hope you'll enjoy all of the books though. The cases are interesting. :)

I wish the entire exchange in chapter four was in the actual show. I mean when was the last time we saw Hotch teased Reid? Did that ever happen on the show? I would love to see the look on Reid's face, lol.

that wasn't a particular holmes reference, it's just the type of thing he (or maybe more accurately, watson) says in the books. more of a generalization, i guess?

but i definitely agree with what both you and daylyn say below about there being flirting in the exchange in chapter four. and that hotch's flirting would most definitely be subtle (because can you imagine him trying to use some of morgan's pick up lines??).

that led me to wonder, though, about how much of the lack of slashiness portrayed on screen comes from there being less slashy material written into the script, or from the actors taking the dialog in a different direction.

Yeah, I too forgot about the SH references until I saw the movie and then I remembered that something SH was mentioned in one of the CM books, and bam! Hotch and Reid bonded over Sherlock freakin' Holmes!

I actually got an idea for a crossover months ago. It's epic and still there. Sadly due to my job, I don't think it will turn into anything real any time soon, so I hope someone else would pick up on the idea of CM/SH crossover and provide us some slash goodness. XD

How horrific was the latest episode by the way? I think I might be the only one, but I'm not ready to see Hotch smile yet.

I was on a verge of something while watching that horrendous episode. It felt like another show, but that discussion was so over by the second hour after the episode was aired, lol. I liked last week's ep though. And we've got the good old caffeinated Reid who's nervous around big guns and Hotch (+Morgan) being (over)protective of him. XD

There's some H/R goodness in book 2 and 3 but nothing full-blown like their SH bonding in book 1. Still there are some squee-worthy moments if you really look for them, lol.

Oh, and I agree with you about not being ready to see Hotch smile in the current godawful, horrible episode. Although his smile seemed more like a forced grimace at times. There was just so much bad about that episode -- what did they do to our loved characters? A note to TPTB: if you want us to care about the new characters, don't make charactertures out of the old characters.

On a completely different and cracky note, I have An Idea for a SH and CM crossover which involves Hotch/Reid (and Holmes/Watson, of course), mad scientists in London, explosions across time, and Jack the Ripper. I'm now convinced that my plot bunnies are crack addicts. I may actually write it, because it's kind of consuming my brain right now.

Flirting! And I thought I was seeing things, lol. Yeah, I almost thought the first time around that it was out of character for Hotch to being that casual with his subordinates, but then again, it was back when Hotch's marriage was fairly intact and Gideon was still there to take the "mentor" role with Reid, so Hotch can just be... I don't know... a coworker... who flirts with another coworker? You don't see that happening with Prentiss, do you? LOL (Wait until you see what happened in the second book, haha. No, nothing discriminating, sadly. Just a short, weird exchange that could be interpreted in our slash heart's favor, lol.) I'll get those up tomorrow or something. ^_^

Oh, the last ep was okay to me until the last ten minutes, where things went to hell (where believable writing doesn't exist). Too many Die-Hard/Mission-Impossible cliches, and God, all the tough-guy talks in the "new" team... that freaked me most out of all the freaky things in the episode. I know I watch CM because I'm intrigued with serial killers, but I LOVE CM because the characters are normal people and react in normal/screw-up ways, not someone you see prancing and mouthing off in Michale Bay's movies (though I enjoyed quite a few where Bruce Willis was awesome). I don't mind the case though, but then again the father/daughter storyline always gets to me. *shrugs* Can't wait for things to get back to *normal* even if that means more Hotch/Prentiss.

Get out of here! I had planned CM/SH crossover before, and Jack the Ripper was there too! LOL. I guess he's an iconic figure when it comes to London around that time, but mine doesn't include time travel or anything paranormal. Just a couple of normal dudes investigating stuff in late 18th Century. The biggest problem though is that I suck at writing case/general/plot-heavy stories. I lost interest very quickly with stories like that. I tend to write character-study type stories, which probably won't work with stories that needs plot-driven narrative, lol. But I'll rethink it and maybe after a few "experiments," I'll get my first crossover story in my portfolio. :D

Now someone needs to set up a CM/SH comm, lol.

I re-read it again. I still see flirting. I mean, it's subtle flirting (Hotch-like flirting), but there's flirting there. And he's making sure Reid is alright (and telling him that he knew Reid wouldn't let him down). And continuing to make references to Sherlock Holmes that only Reid knew the context of. Yep, flirting. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I didn't hate the last episode, but I didn't like it either. I really didn't like what they did with "our" characters. But hopefully next week will be better. Although I do have to say a giant NO to Hotch/Prentiss (I guess I can understand the appeal of that 'ship, but it really does NOTHING for me).

Okay, I've actually started to write it. I'm a terribly slow writer (with a life-consuming job too -- I'll be working on Sunday, oh goody), so I'm not making any promises on speed. But yeah, it's started.

I can't believe I'm doing this.

I think I'm planning to have Hotch and Reid already involved in a relationship, but Holmes and Watson dancing around one (and Holmes being all sorts of bitchy because in 1888 (the Ripper year), Watson was just about to get married (although trying to pin down a timeline in SH is like attempting to hit a target strapped to the back of a cat being chased by a dog, or something like that). But yeah, there's going to be a lot of bitching talking by Watson about Holmes and observations by Holmes about Reid (and Hotch).

I've even figured out how Hotch and Reid get back in time. And why they're going after Jack the Ripper (well, other than I need a contrived plot device).

Oh god, I wish this would write itself quickly because I want to know what happens.

First -- mother hen Hotch! OMG, mother hen Hotch! He even calls himself a mother hen. That's... just so much pure squee I can barely contain myself.

Second -- no cookies! I love how both Hotch and Reid are in sync about the cookies having to be sent to the lab. (Btw, do they ever get to eat the cookies?)

Three -- Reid is worried about Hotch! Hotch is aging before his eyes and has all the responsibility and Reid is concerned. Of course, they have to go to work, but still... Reid's worried.

Four -- OMG, Hotch is going to "presumably" sit next to Reid. And father Hotch (an extension of mother hen Hotch, I think) telling JJ she'd be a good mother. And then Hotch does go sit next to Reid. *squee, squee, squee*

Thank you SO MUCH for posting these. I have so many H/R scenes going through my mind. I think I'm going to have to order these books if just for these little H/R moments (and the stories seem interesting too).

Oh, and I'm going to write that little scene where Reid goes in to wake Hotch up and Hotch comes out with mussed hair because, really, I just can't help myself. And I'm still working on the Epic Crossover CM/Holmes fic. I've got about 5,400 words so far and plot ideas for both timelines. Personally, out of the two, i prefer the second one. I love the way Hotch defends Reid and keeps telling the people to listen to him. I like protective Hotch. I also like the way that it was Reid who knew Hotch had gone to take a nap and how it was also him who had to go and wake him. I like the way Reid was so reluctant to wake him and tried to put it off as long as possible.


I haven't seen the movie, but i have seen the complete series of Holmes, which was done in England, played by an actor who, if you have seen the drawing of Holmes, looked freakishly like him, i mean they were nearly identical they looked so alike. I do have the books though.

I'll try posting stuff from book III today. Not much H/R but there's good old funny oblivious!Reid. :)

You know what's funny? My job is translating TV shows subtitles from English into my language, and at the moment I'm assigned to so CM subtitles (partly per my request), and I am doing the translation for "The Last Word" as we speak (or as I type, lol). So much love for throwing Hotch and Reid together. They click so well. You don't even feel Reid's the subordinate when they work side by side. Let's talk about this ep, shall we? Convenient for me since it's still fresh in my mind, and convenient for you seeing it's one of your favorite H/R episodes. :D

Whoops, guess what? I finished another fic last night. Finally. The first one in months! Reid-centric (or pre-slash H/R if you're one-track minded like me, hee.) Not as fluffy as 21th Century Boy, but got some Jack/Reid action (not in that way!). I tend to turn things unnecessarily angsty though, so I'm not promising adorableness (or awesomeness for that matter). It's being beta'ed as we speak.

Bribe? Let me see. I always wanted to see Reid stuck in an elevator with Hotch. *evil grins*

PS. I do have this one silly, fluffy/smutty-potential idea. Maybe I should get right on that. XD
